Local Brews and Books; 5/13 to 5/19

beerbooksSince I know I have quite a few local readers here at Brews and Books, I’ll be posting a weekly round-up of beer- and book-related events in southern Maine. If you’re in the Portland area, hopefully this keeps you abreast of some of the cool events happening in your backyard. If you aren’t, here’s your excuse to come to Maine!

Thursday, May 13

At the Great Lost Bear, brews from Rogue will only be $2.99 a pint from 5-9 as this week’s microbrew showcase. The Dead Guy, Double Dead Guy, Double Mocha Porter and Imperial Red are confirmed on tap, and there should be a few others in the lineup as well.

Weekly Gank the Goblet night at the Lion’s Pride in Brunswick; order a brew from the Lion’s Pride’s featured brewery and you get to keep the glass! Call for more details.

At 7PM, Longfellow Books hosts Steve Almond, who will be reading from his new book Rock and Roll will Save Your Life.

At the RiRa Irish Pub on Portland’s waterfront, Shipyard is debuting their new Wheat Ale at 6PM. Since it’s a Shipyard release, you can expect the usual abundance of prizes and giveaways.
