Since I know I have quite a few local readers here at Brews and Books, I’ll be posting a weekly round-up of beer- and book-related events in southern Maine. If you’re in the Portland area, hopefully this keeps you abreast of some of the cool events happening in your backyard. If you aren’t, here’s your excuse to come to Maine!
Thursday, May 13
At the Great Lost Bear, brews from Rogue will only be $2.99 a pint from 5-9 as this week’s microbrew showcase. The Dead Guy, Double Dead Guy, Double Mocha Porter and Imperial Red are confirmed on tap, and there should be a few others in the lineup as well.
Friday, May 14
The Dank Hop Fest starts at Brunswick’s Lion’s Pride on Friday. Along with the Mikkeller Single Hop IPAs, the fest will feature hoptastic beers from Stone, Southern Tier, Allagash, Brewdog and a number of others.
Saturday, May 15
Sunday, May 16
Tuesday, May 18
Wednesday, May 19
As part of their regular Brown Bag Lecture series, the Portland Public Library hosts Howard Frank Mosher. Mosher is the author of (most recently) Walking to Gatlinburg, and will present his lecture from noon to 1 in the Rines Auditorium.
If you know of or are hosting an event related to beer or books in the Portland area and would like to see it mentioned here, drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org.
