Since I know I have quite a few local readers here at Brews and Books, I post a weekly round-up of beer- and book-related events in southern Maine. If you’re in the Portland area, hopefully this keeps you abreast of some of the cool events happening in your backyard. If you aren’t, here’s your excuse to come to Maine!
Thursday, June 3
At the Great Lost Bear, brews from Saint John Brewers will only be $2.99 a pint from 5-9 as this week’s microbrew showcase. Tropical Mango Ale and Island Hoppin’ IPA are confirmed on tap from this Virgin Islands brewery.
Friday, June 4
Saturday, June 5
Nasson Community Center’s Little Theatre will be the place to see and hear Mark Twain, starting at 7 p.m. Adapted in part from Hal Holbrook’s “Mark Twain Tonight” the presentation features Sol Factor performing as Twain for an evening. Tickets are $10 at the door.
Lincoln Peirce, the cartoonist behind the Big Nate comic strip and Big Nate: In a Class by Himself, will be signing at Nonesuch Books‘ South Portland location starting at 11 AM.
If you know of or are hosting an event related to beer or books in the Portland area and would like to see it mentioned here, drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org.
